WHO IS MICHAEL CLARKE STUDIO?
Michael Clarke began his teaching career in 1983 after leaving the rock band Tokyo. He soon realised that there was a huge demand for quality guitar and bass tuition which was not being catered for in the area and decided to set up a studio to address this. One of the earlier students Michael taught was Stove, bass player for the critically acclaimed, top 40 band Mansun. This lead to working with other bands and management companies both large and small, preparing them for live tours and studio work. Between teaching sessions, Michael has recorded many original pieces for adverts, films and jingles as well as self penned albums. Michael soon found himself in demand for session work in studios across the UK.
During 40 plus year playing career, Michael has been involved in a huge range of live performances in venues ranging from arenas to pubs and clubs. In addition to this, Michael worked in Rushworth Music House in the town of Chester as a salesman and setup/repairman for guitars and basses. Michael continues to enjoy all avenues of involvement and looks forward to many more years of tutoring in he studio…
Dan Pearce has been performing on the circuit for the best part of 7 years; however, he began learning to play guitar at the studio, back in 2011, following with recording sessions at the studio for his, at the time, current releases. Dan found a yearning for Sound Engineering and decided to study as a hobby, taking on odd jobs for live engineering for different festivals and events. In 2018, Dan was lucky enough to be offered a position at the Studio as the new Sound Engineer; he has already had the honour of working on so many incredible projects.
Between recording projects and working on Social Media, Dan has the opportunity of recording his current projects, as well as recording backing tracks, with Michael, to help assist all students in practising their Lead and Rhythm playing, Bass playing and, for external students to the studio, Drum playing.
Steven Collins has been playing guitar and bass for 25 years. He has played in original material bands such as Timeweaver and The Acausal as well as covers acts Parallel Lines (Blondie Tribute) and Made in Wales. During his time with Timeweaver, Steven was the principal sound engineer in their modest recording studio. More recently, Steven has been working on material for Timeweaver and Funkafonix in a session musician role and helping to create backing music for a YouTube makeup artist.
He got into music after being loaned Guns n Roses Appetite for Destruction on cassette. Helloween, Iron Maiden and Metallica followed soon after and the guitar journey began.
