End of Year Blog/RGT Exam Results

2015 will go down as one of the studios best years to date. One thing which has become very apparent is that students are being evermore careful to choose the right teaching environment, so we must be doing something right as we have never been busier! Many students who have come with prior tutoring experience but have tried the studio here because the first lesson is free have made significant progress.

That said, we have just had some of our students best ever exam results. Stand out results such as a distinction grades achieved by both Alexandra Iliopoulou and Danielle Edwards who achieved 97% on her preliminary grade bass exam are examples of this.

We would like to take the opportunity to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. If anyone receives a guitar or bass for Christmas and would like lessons, please do not hesitate to contact us.

RGT Exam Students And What Is Involved

We entered a record number of students in for their RGT exams this weekend. Their results should be due soon so stay tuned to see how they did.

If you would are thinking of taking RGT exams yourself, here is what is involved how we can help you achieve them.

RGT grades are split into five or more sections designed to test a students practical and knowledgable abilities. If the student succeeds, a certificate of award is given. All of the RGT grades carry UCAS points and are useful for future job CV's.

Preparation here at the Michael Clarke Studio is a lot faster that what most schools can provide. We can take you through the chosen grade books step by step and give you the theoretical and practical knowledge needed to pass.

If you would like more info on RGT exams, how to book or what else is involved, contact us now:

An Experience From Our Student, Megan, Age 9

We are very pleased to have this weeks blog written by our student Megan, age 9, as she relates her guitar learning experience at the Michael Clarke Studio, Deeside.

"Dream BIG"!

I’m Megan, I am 9 years old and very busy. I love sports and I do loads of after school activities including playing the guitar.

I learn to play with Mike at his studio and I’ve been learning for about three years now. When I first started the guitar I was so small I couldn’t really stretch over the top of the guitar to reach the strings so I used to have to lie it on my knee to start with. I wanted to play with a full size guitar from the start as it was given to me by my grandpa.

Mike is so patient with me and such a good teacher.

I think he is so clever because he will re-write any song for me so I can play it on my guitar – my favourite songs so far are The Climb and Fight Song.

The Michael Clarke Studio is such a great place to learn, I have learnt so much from Mike and I love going to lessons

I’d love to be a singer-songwriter in the future and perform on the stage. My mum says that you should dream your dreams a size to big so you can grow into them, so that’s what I am going to do.

If you are thinking about learning the guitar I would highly recommend the Michael Clarke Studio".

Thanks for your kind words Megan. Keep rocking!!

How NOT To Clean Your Guitar - Hilarious!!

Heres a video we stumbled across of somebody carrying out "guitar maintenance". We completely disagree that this is NOT the way to look after your axe. The only thing is, always be sure to use fairy liquid!! Enjoy!

On a more serious note, we are taking bookings for the next open days on Thursday 12th and Friday 13th November here at the Guitar and Bass studio at Connah's Quay, Deeside where you can purchase christmas vouchers for all our services including Tone School which will amongst other things show you how to do the above properly.

What Makes The Michael Clarke Guitar And Bass Studio Different?

Over the last 30 years and over 10,000 visitors, every aspect of the studio has been crafted and tailored by its students. Many facilities at the studio have been the template that other studios have tried to emulate but have never equalled. With real state of the art equipment we are able to provide a high quality learning environment for students as well as superb facilities for parents to wait in either our reception area or in outside undercover courtyard.

With a very high success rate in RGT exam passes, we have had the pleasure of watching many students go on to professional musical careers such as teaching. Our students not only improve in their practical playing, but also in areas such as musical theory, their musical ear and even writing capabilities if they wish.

Our teaching is thorough, whilst maintaining a fun and relaxed atmosphere. Many students get together away from the studio in the groups they have been learning in, thus many bands have been formed in this way over the years.

Stay tuned for the next blog and remember to keep sharing our pages with your family and friends.
